On 5 March 2018, EICT took 25 businesses from the Incubator programme to participate in the Department of Tourism Enterprise Development Awareness Campaign held in Mafikeng.  This Programme is an initiative of the Department of Tourism that provides training and support for emerging and existing tourism businesses to ensure their viability and sustainability in the sector.  The business expo showcased the services and initiatives under the Enterprise Development and Support Programme that ensures the sustainability of SMMEs in the sector.

Keynote speaker was The Deputy Minister Elizabeth Thabethe. The one-day expo also featured presentations by various organisations from government, exhibitions and one-on-one consultations with government and financial entities. Entrepreneurs left the expo capacitated and empowered with skills and information that will empower them to succeed in the tourism industry.  The expo was also a great platform for the SMMEs to understand where to go when in need of funding as well as to get an understanding of where the National Department of Tourism is heading and what are the plans that are in the pipeline for the SMMEs.
